Left Wanting

The first of the waking hours
When in my own company, I sit
Often, slipping into a silent zone, where I'm hit
By a whiff of you...sometimes, only the slightest bit


A rush of emotions, so strong
Fountains from the deepest part of me
Rising above, swirling within and without
Encircling me, drowning me, breaking me


I give in, drenching my lashes
Bit by bit, tearing my shield apart
Wanting to hush my mind
Wanting to listen to my heart


A trickling emptiness leaves me helpless
In quest for that embrace, so pure
That I once experienced, even if, only for a moment,
For long, lingered a feeling, that made me secure

The Night

The soft cushion of silver sand
Cannot be more comforting than the warmth of your hand
Lit up with twinkling lights, this sky, deeper than blue
